IWGB host 'biggest strike for outsourced workers' at UCL

Hundreds of cleaners, porters and security officers from university college london were protesting today in what they describe as the biggest strike of outsourced workers in UK higher education history.

The walkout is over the employment rights afforded to temporary staff.

The Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain say the protest is part of their campaign to end zero-hours contracts.

UCL have responded and say they are committed to ensuring security, cleaning and catering staff will receive the same or equivalent pay and benefits as directly employed staff, following constructive negotiations with their trade union UNISON.
