Buddhism at the British Library

The British Library's latest exhibition explores rarely seen before artefacts relating to Buddhism from its beginnings in the 6th century.

The items are from 20 countries spanning 2,000 years and they include colourful scrolls, sacred texts and gold plates showing how mindfulness, compassion and tolerance are at the core of the religion.
