London's first upcycled electric bin lorries launched today

Two bin lorries, which previously ran on diesel, have been returned to service, after being upcycled into electric vehicles. Rather than scrapping them, Westminster City Council and the waste collection firm Veolia opted to install new zero-emission engines instead. The lorries will now be trialled for two years- if they continue to operate well, the idea will be rolled out to other high polluting vehicles
