Tanika Gupta MBE reimagines 'A Doll's House'

A new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House is set to open in London.

The original outing in 1879 caused outrage, exploring the fate of married woman who abandons her family.

The latest version is set in Calcutta, rather than Norway and follows a young Bengali woman, married to an English government official.

The Chiswick playwright Tanika Gupta MBE has created it, and has been speaking to Tanya Francis.
A Doll's House will be on at the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith from the 6th of September until the 5th of October.
